Student Loan Training for Housing Counselors
Chicago - U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development
9:00AM - 3:00PM
77 W. Jackson Boulevard, Conference Room 2513, Ralph H. Metcalfe Federal Building
Chicago, IL 60604
During our final two days, we will discuss how to help clients weighed down by student loan debt or families trying to decide whether to take out loans for a child's college education. Since housing counselors see families before they take out loans, as well as clients currently paying off major debt, they are ideally positioned to provide valuable guidance to students and parents. We will discuss options for paying for higher education, such as loans and grants available, repayment options, expenses beyond tuition, and budgeting while paying off loans. We will also explore the ways that student loans affect homeownership options.
